Arizona Insurance Institute (AII) Advisory Board members met in March to collaborate on 2018 insurance industry workforce development efforts.
AII has been working with Northern Arizona University’s W.A. Franke College of Business on developing a Risk Management and Insurance program. Dean Dan Goebel of the College of Business reported on the efforts of NAU – a course titled The Fundamentals of Risk Management will be offered to students this coming summer semester as well as the fall, followed by a course in Commercial Property and Liability to be introduced spring of 2019. The College of Business hopes demand for the courses will grow and will continue to develop curriculum to create a robust program. Dean Goebel also has set his sights on establishing – with the help of the insurance industry – the Arizona Center for Risk Management and Insurance at NAU.
The Advisory Board also heard from Willie Higgins of the Arizona Department of Economic Security on the State’s Apprenticeship Program. The program can be customized for each industry’s specific educational and employment needs. Insurance company’s can partner with the Apprenticeship Program to design their own program within the Departments templates to educate and employ the next generation of insurance professionals.
Keep checking A I I’s website often for more details and information about these exciting developing programs in addition to the next professional development, public speaking workshop series which will be starting in July.
